“Universal Symbols Make My Art Unique” – Interview with Connekt Artist Anastasia Hansen

Connekt Artist Anastasia Hansen & Artist Shiri Achu- London 2012

Connekt Expo 2014 is less than a month away and our talented artists are busy preparing for a unique and successful show in Rome this December.  I am quite excited to see how it turns out as the Expo is representing diverse and true talents. In our interview series with the Connekt Artists of Rome 2014, I have interviewed the sophisticated and beautiful Danish Artist and Energy Healer, Anastasia Marianna Hansen.

Anastasia Hansen uses art to communicate universal symbols that she receives during her deep meditation. Her works are vibrant and colors are very prominent. I had the opportunity to view her artworks in person and very much appreciated the vibrancy of the colors.  Although there is no mentioning of it by her in this interview, in a personal talk I had with Anastasia during her expo in London in 2012, Anastasia shared with me how she uses her artworks in healing her clients.

Since her expo in 2012, in her own words, Anastasia has faced “a breakthrough in my art – everything is new – new ideas exploding – working all the time …. an it makes me so happy“.  While I can not post her exhibiting artworks for 2014 Connekt Art Expo, based on my observation, her new style is more dynamic, colors are more subtle, symbols are more abstract, and the interplay of such symbols are emphasized.  Here is the interview with Connekt Artist – Anastasia Hansen:

Tell us a bit about your life as an artist. When & Why did you decide to be an artist?,

I started drawing and painting at the age of 11, very inspired by an artist and sculpturer who was a good friend of the family. I started at my first drawing course. Later I graduated from The Danish Design School as a graphic designer and have been working in advertising and creating visual communication materials and teaching art classes. A few years ago I started receiving what I call my Universal Symbols.

Tell us about your art? What makes it unique?

My Universal Symbols makes my art unique. I received the symbols through deep meditative experience. My work is an effort to link ourselves back to the hidden realities, which are lying deep within ourselves. It is an attempt to approach our original base, and our true needs and hearts’ desires. Indeed, self introspection, illumination and transformation are the qualities I want to invoke with my paintings.

You are from Denmark. Do you think Danish culture and surrounding has an impact on your style?

No, not at all. I am a world citizen and I am convinced that my concepts and ideas would be of the same nature if I would have been born in another culture – maybe my expression would have been different – I can´t say.

If you have to share one advice with upcoming artist what would that be?

Keep on going – express yourself and do not care what people think.

What made you decide to become a Connekt?

I think it is a very interesting concept, connecting different expressions of art.
